The Liz O Show at 50 Mason!
The Liz O Show had their first gig at 50 Mason Social House on October 6th! Ponies were thrown, the stuffed bear was humped, party hats were forced on the guests, Travis gave exotic lap dances, and a good time was had by all.
Blue and black were the colors of the night...
Special guest Benjy Smax of the Phoenix Twin came onstage to entertain us, and we learned what a rabid Liz O Show fan looks like...
THIS!
Thanks to everyone who came out; we can't wait to do it again and again!
Boppity Bear at the Whole Soul Launch Party
Boppity Bear and Liz O met a whole boatload of kindred spirits when they performed at the Whole Soul Launch Party! Polina Smith, founder of Whole Soul, is a holistic healer by day and a clown by night. Or whichever whenever she feels like it, really. The point is that this yielded a crowd of fun and wonderful people who Boppity Bear and Liz had so much fun meeting and performing for... and Boppity Bear insisted on staying and getting down well into the night!
And though the walk took us through the Tenderloin on the way home, and it was 2:00 in the morning, we got way less harassment than you would expect. The men who turned excitedly upon hearing the clicking of high heels had to take an extra second to formulate their thoughts, or perhaps they were just purely scared of the gigantic bear apparition moving toward them through the shadows. Either way, we were usually long gone before they could say anything.*
Except in a few cases, like the clearly crack-addled woman who came teetering toward us yelling, "GIMME THAT TEDDY!" To which Liz O yelled back a firm and assertive, "NO!"
Boundaries are always best when dealing with crack addicts.
To be continued...
The Chicken John Book Launch Party
Being basically unemployed gave me the time and energy to seek out San Franciscan events that I normally might not notice, such as this one; The Chicken John Book Launch Party. The revelry took up an entire block and included The Lost Municipal Library of Brigadoon, which is only open once every hundred years (I checked out the book Seductress, and so far it has served me well...), a trolley car, battling gigantic robots and gorillas, art cars, a "Fight Your Inner Demons" booth, and much much more.
Boppity Bear Gets a Burrito
We were all famished after Om Shan Tea since it's really not food to satisfy wild bears and coyotes. So we headed to, appropriately, El Coyote Taqueria in The Mission where Boppity Bear got some much needed carnitas and made friends with the flamenco band.
Where's Waldo... Where's Boppity?
Boppity Bear put in 50 cents since he is, after all, a music lover. The End!
Boppity Bear Goes to a Tea Party!
We were invited to the birthday party of Travis Sigley, so it seemed only appropriate that the bear should come along. He made many new friends; one of whom was horrified to find that there was still a screw in his paw from where he had been crucified to the walls of the rehearsal studio.
Travis received a whimsical card from Boppity Bear Enterprises, and a bar of dark chocolate, and a crown...
Three quarters of The Liz O Show reunited to plan world domination...
And the festivities and Boppity Bear love continued well into the night!
Boppity Bear & Liz Lively
Boppity Bear with Liz Lively, VP of Boppity Bear Enterprises. (Her role is to drink martinis and be useless).
