I just spent from 7pm to now (2am) launching THE GREAT BAMBOOZLE BOPPITY BEAR!!
And now that there is a link on it to this blog I feel that I should write something interesting. I was working on the site in a communal house over by the lake on the edge of campus, and around 1:30 am I suddenly got the heebie jeebies. Shortly thereafter I heard a funny screechy sound, and within seconds I had the site published and was sprinting out of the house with graham cracker and cheez-it wrappers in hand...I think I left all the lights on but no matter...
The campus was empty except for me and the full moon, enshrouded in mist, and I didn't stop running all the way home.
Then as I reached the door I remembered a tale about Wellesley that I don't even want to repeat, being superstitious, suffice to say I am still jittery and contemplating whether or not to even go to bed.
Also, I just remembered that I'm pretty sure there's a mutant swan living on the lake!
As I related to my fellow-swan-appreciating friend via facebook the other day:
"I was standing beside the wellesley lake, enjoying a nice sunset, when all of a sudden a swan the size of a small boat came powering toward the shore (the water was actually making churning noises), and I started running away because I have cat-like instincts, but a nearby goose was not so smart and it ended up getting chased around and around the lake by the swan. It was the most terrifying thing i've ever seen!"
True story, and the saga continues. Today I saw, far across the lake, what I thought was a rapidly moving motorboat. I looked closer- IT WAS THE SWAN! I hear the jaws theme song in my head every time I see it. Anyway, there's a lot for a hypochondriac to be jittery about in these parts, and if i don't come back from one of my lake-walks, you'll know the reason!
